Case study of street lamp model production
1、 Material selection and core feature analysis
The street lamp model is mainly composed of traffic signal lights, including white columnar lamp posts, multi-layer signal light groups (red, yellow, green), black square bases, and top decorative structures. Material selection should take into account both structural stability and detail restoration:
Lamp post: Use a PVC pipe with a diameter of 1cm (smooth and easy to shape surface) to simulate the white vertical stripe lamp post in the picture;
Signal light group: black ABS plastic board (cut into circular lamp shell)+colored acrylic disc (red, yellow, green transparent lens);
Base: 5cm thick black acrylic board (with strong load-bearing capacity and laser engraved text on the surface);
Decoration: The top diamond shaped structure is made of black KT board (lightweight and easy to cut), and a silver metal ring is installed in the middle of the lamp post (simulating the fixed buckle of a real street lamp).


2、 Main structure manufacturing process
Lamp pole processing
Cut the PVC pipe into equal sections (about 30cm in height), use masking tape to stick circular stripes with a spacing of 1cm on the surface, spray white matte paint and remove the tape to form the vertical stripe texture of the lamp post in the picture.
Drill holes at the bottom of the lamp post and insert metal screws with matching diameters for connection to the base; Cut the top at a 45 ° angle and paste a diamond shaped decorative cover made of black KT board.
Assembly of signal light group
Lamp shell production: A circular piece with a diameter of 5cm is laser cut from black ABS board. Three equidistant small holes (with a diameter of 1cm) are dug in the center, and the edges are polished into a circular arc shape with sandpaper.
Lens and lighting installation: A colored acrylic disc (diameter 1cm) is embedded in a small hole, and a micro LED light bead (one red, one yellow, and one green) is pasted on the back. The wire passes through the small hole at the bottom of the lamp housing and leads along the inside of the lamp post to the base.
Base and Detail Decoration
Cut the black acrylic board into a 10cm × 10cm square base, and laser engrave the words “Traffic Signal Light Model” on the surface (refer to the text style on the base of the picture).
Two silver metal rings (spaced 5cm apart) are inserted into the middle of the lamp post and fixed with AB glue to simulate the structure of a real street lamp maintenance platform.


3、 Surface treatment and coloring process
Painting of lamp post and base
Lamp post: Spray white matte paint twice. After the first coat is dry, lightly grind it with 400 grit sandpaper. Ensure that there is no sagging, no bubbles, and clear stripe edges in the second coat.
Base: Black acrylic board does not require coloring, can be directly wiped with alcohol to remove surface oil stains and maintain a high gloss texture; Stick anti slip silicone pads at the bottom (diameter 1cm, 1 in each of the 4 corners).
Detail processing of signal light group
Black lamp shell sprayed with black glossy paint to enhance glossiness; The edge of the acrylic lens is finely polished with 1000 grit sandpaper to avoid stray light during light transmission.
Wrap the LED bead pins with heat shrink tubing to prevent short circuits; Wrap the wire with black velvet tape to simulate the insulation layer of a real circuit.


4、 Circuit system integration
Lighting control module
Inside the base, there is a 3V button battery box (2 in series) and a micro toggle switch installed. The switch is embedded on the side of the base (consistent with the position of the base switch in the picture).
The wires are connected to the signal light groups on each floor through the wiring holes inside the lamp post, using a parallel circuit design to ensure that the red, yellow, and green lights can be independently lit.
Lighting effect debugging
Test the brightness of LED beads to ensure uniform light transmission of colored lenses and no dark areas; Adjust the angle of the lamp bead to ensure that the light is emitted vertically (to avoid side leakage).
Simulate traffic signal logic: red light always on → yellow light flashing → green light always on, control the flashing frequency by adjusting the resistance value in the circuit.


5、 Overall assembly and restoration calibration
Component splicing
Screw the bottom screw of the lamp post into the reserved nut hole on the base, tighten it with a wrench, and ensure that the lamp post is vertical without shaking; The signal light group is fitted into the lamp post according to the “upper, middle, and lower three layers” structure shown in the picture, and fixed with screws.
Apply a small amount of hot melt adhesive to the top diamond shaped decorative cover, and seamlessly connect the edge with the lamp post.
Detail calibration
Compare the pictures and adjust the spacing between the signal light groups (8cm between each layer) to ensure that the centers of the lamp shells on each layer are aligned; Check the orientation of the base text and keep it perpendicular to the lamp post.
After lighting up the lights, confirm that the red, yellow, and green colors are consistent with the signal light colors in the picture, and there is no color mixing phenomenon; The overall height, proportion, and model error in the image should be controlled within ± 2%.
